The parent company of Pulte Homes confirmed Oct. 23 that it has a purchase contract in escrow on Ahwatukee Lakes Golf Club, 13431 S. 44th St., in Ahwatukee.
“We currently (are) in escrow, but continue to evaluate the feasibility of this project,” Jacque Petroulakis, a spokeswoman for Pulte Group Inc., said in a statement. “Before meeting with members of the community, we must complete an internal redevelopment plan and review the regulatory compliance obligations involved. We hope to know more within the next 60 to 90 days.”
Petroulakis says regulatory compliance obligations include environmental and all levels of government.
It was not immediately known what Pulte’s plans are for the golf course that owner Wilson Gee closed May 6, saying he wants to develop the property because he was losing money on it. Neither Gee nor Foothills Golf Property President Terry Duggan was available for comment.
