State Rep. Justin Pierce officially entered the Republican primary for Arizona secretary of state on Tuesday.
Pierce, a second-term lawmaker from Mesa, said investigative skills he honed as an attorney working on employment law should serve him well in the post.
The office oversees Arizona elections and the ability to take a “deep dive” into charges of fraud could come in handy, he said.
In a news release announcing his candidacy, Pierce touted the support of “high-profile” backers, including House Speaker Andy Tobin, R-Paulden.
