Would a return to a five-day work week by the city of Apache Junction help residents and businesspeople conduct city affairs?
The Apache Junction City Council discussed the topic at its Oct. 14 work session.
Councilman Jeff Serdy raised the question after receiving 12 to 15 resident complaints since the city switched to a four-day work week two years ago, he said during a phone interview last week. The residents cited a number of reasons for their complaints, he said. Among them were wanting to pay a bill, apply for a license or permit or speak to a city employee on a Friday.
The city switched to a four-day week on July 18, 2011, according to a press release from the city (“Beginning July 18, city hall to be open only 7 a.m.-6 p.m. M-Th”) in the June 22, 2011 edition of the Apache Junction/Gold Canyon Independent.
