When you don’t pay attention, stuff like this happens.
That’s the biggest lesson to take from Gilbert Public Schools’ once-in-question support of Mesa’s deal with Apple.
Sure, the boardroom was packed on Monday night. After considerable pressure from statewide elected leaders and hundreds of citizens, even the board members who were initially against Apple’s proposed foreign trade zone — and said so in no uncertain terms — had no choice but to backtrack. They unanimously approved the deal.
But that’s not how things often work around here.
