The transformation of a former shooting-supplies store with an underground shooting gallery into a gathering place for artists and other creative people is now under way in downtown Scottsdale.
The Creative Center of Scottsdale is under construction along the western side of Scottsdale Road just north of Osborn Road. The complex should be completed and open next spring.
The three-building complex once house Mandall’s Shooting Supplies, a family business that closed in 2004, a former auto garage and Arizona Knitting and Needlepoint.
The iconic sign with a teddy bear holding a machine gun still greets passers-by, and will be repainted and maintained as a part of the center.
