Global trade-hub PhoenixMart project advances in Casa Grande

This morning an ambitious global wholesale-trade center heavily backed by Chinese investors is set to break ground in a Casa Grande cotton field.

Two members of Congress and a former secretary of Labor are scheduled to be on hand for the ceremonial event. The project, which has been on the drawing board for more than two years, is intended to serve as a hub for worldwide business-to-business trade in manufactured goods. More important, if completed, the 585-acre development known as PhoenixMart, could support an estimated 8,000 area jobs and would also serve as perhaps the most tangible link connecting the Phoenix and Tucson economies.

Casa Grande Mayor Robert Jackson welcomed the beginning of a project that could transform his city.
