Kate Gallego, Laura Pastor set to win Phoenix City Council seats; other election results

Voters across the Phoenix area decided a slew of local elections on Tuesday, apparently sweeping a new generation of Phoenix City Council members into office, supporting Buckeye’s quest to become a city and giving mixed results for bond money in several cities, early returns suggested.

Election2013image400x250Unofficial election results late Tuesday signaled the likely outcome of a handful of contests across the Valley. Phoenix and Maricopa County weren’t expected to release final vote counts until later this week.

Overall, it was a night of relatively quiet contests, with the exception of Phoenix’s council races, which remained contentious until the end.
