Defense and aerospace contracting giant Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT) is closing its plant in Goodyear as part of a 4,000-worker layoff.
Bethesda, Md.-based Lockheed also is closing plants in Newtown, Pa.; Akron, Ohio; Horizon City, Texas; and four buildings at its Sunnyvale, Calif., campus in Silicon Valley.
The plants will close in 2015 and account for 2,000 of the layoffs.
