Page City Council spent an hour Wednesday night contemplating a sale of land near the Colorado River rim that is neither platted nor surveyed.
Vin Paitoon, the city’s former tourism coordinator, approached the panel to ask if it was interested in selling his group two parcels off Scenic View Drive. Council gave preliminary approval for the sale of a 12.24-acre parcel that is sale-ready. An adjoining 7.5-acre parcel was another matter, and it received no action.
A group represented by Paitoon wants to expand its properties beyond the nearby Toroweap subdivision. His group wants to build homes, condominiums and vacation home rentals, some overlooking the gaping river canyon.
But council balked at approving the 7.5-acre parcel, citing the absence of a plat.
