Page sells land for new motel

Arizona Daily Sun

An established motel- building family was green-lighted to potentially bring a Marriott to Page Wednesday night.

Shane Wittwer, whose family has built and owned motels in southern Utah and Las Vegas for more than 60 years, obtained approval from Page City Council to buy three acres of city land just north of the National Park Service headquarters building off Highway 89.

In a letter to City Manager Rick Olson, Wittwer said he wants to construct a motel with 80 to 100 rooms on the parcel, located between 89 and Scenic View Drive. The land would be sold at the appraised value of $270,000 following the second reading of the land sale ordinance. Council approved the deal, 7-0.
