Arizona’s higher new campaign contribution limits will go into effect after the Arizona Supreme Court lifted an injunction against HB2593.
The high court issued its order late Tuesday afternoon, about six hours after arguments concluded in the case. The order from Chief Justice Rebecca Berch did not explain the court’s rationale, saying only that the preliminary injunction against the bill is lifted and the Court of Appeals opinion that blocked the law from going into effect is vacated. It is expected to take several months for the Supreme Court to issue a full opinion in the case.
HB2593 raised contribution limits for state-level races to $4,000 per election cycle. The old limits were $440 for legislative races and $912 for statewide races.
