A private developer’s interest in a 53-acre parcel of land just outside the borders of Sun City West’s expansion area is stirring local officials’ concerns about the potential impact on the nearby area within the planned community.
The TrueLife Companies, a San Ramon, Calif.-based firm whose specialties include niche residential developments, earlier this year requested an appraisal of the property from its owners, the Maricopa County Department of Transportation, according to officials with the county and Sun City West. The triangle-shaped piece of land stretching from Loop 303 on the northwest to Sonora Lane on the east and Vista North Drive on the south was valued at $2.7 million, according to Scott Isham, a spokesman for Maricopa County Dist. 4 Supervisor Clint Hickman.
The land would have to be sold at auction by county officials. The developer would have to submit a master plan to county officials prior to approval of any project.
