Former Wyoming schools superintendent Cindy Hill has filed a lawsuit against Gov. Matt Mead and state Education Department Director Richard Crandall seeking release of certain records and correspondence, AP reports.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in state district court in Cheyenne.

Hill is seeking correspondence from several employees in the governor’s office and the state agency as well as department contracts and other financial agreements.

The lawsuit asks the court to find the governor’s office and the agency in violation of the Wyoming Public Records Act and to grant Hill immediate access to the records.

Hill has said she needs the information so she can defend herself as lawmakers investigate her management of the state Education Department. She was removed as head of the agency earlier this year by a new state law.
