The Gilbert Town Council recently approved a $7 million contract with St. Louis-based contractor McCarthy to build a four-story public parking garage in the downtown Heritage District.
Construction is scheduled to begin this month and wrap up in September 2014, according to a project timeline.
The 365-space garage will be ready shortly after the anticipated opening of the Heritage Marketplace mixed-use complex, near Vaughn Avenue and Ash Street.
The parking garage site is nestled between two projects that likely will reshape the downtown landscape — St. Xavier University and Heritage Marketplace.
