As a youngster, Matt Askland was given the gift of room to roam, and he has never forgotten that feeling of freedom.
“I grew up near Price and Warner roads in Chandler, on a couple of acres, surrounded by horses and riding motorcycles,” he recalled with obvious affection, adding that his mother is also a born-and-raised Chandler native.
Today, roughly 10 miles to the east but still within the city’s boundaries, the mortgage lender is bestowing that gift upon his own child, daughter Kyler, 9. He and his wife, Debbie, recently moved their family into a new custom-built home in Circle G at Riggs Homestead Ranch near Chandler Heights and Gilbert roads. The community with nearly 200 custom homes, many with semicircular driveways out front and lots typically about an acre, offers plenty of breathing space and elbow room.
