The Phoenix board of adjustment on Thursday unanimously upheld the city’s interpretation of a zoning ordinance for secondhand stores that will allow a Moon Valley Goodwill to continue operating as it has.
Residents had accused the new north Phoenix thrift store and donation center of violating a section of city code that read: “No merchandise shall be received and/or processed for sale at another site.”
Those opposed interpreted the ordinance to mean Goodwill could not “import” merchandise from other stores for sale, and said the moving vans and trailers parked around the Goodwill were an eyesore.
