Arizona State University vs. BYU – The Defending National Champions & #1 Ranked Team In The Country

April 12, 2014 1:10pm The Rugby Bowl 2014: Join Thousands of Friends & Fans

OVERVIEW & OPPORTUNITY

The owners and producers of the Scottsdale Ferrari-Maserati Polo Championships: Horses & Horsepower (www.thepoloparty.com), as well as Scottsdale Beat The Heat: The Hottest Race on Earth (www.scottsdalebeattheheat.com) have worked with Arizona State University Rugby Coach Gary Lane to create a new signature event for the Valley.

We are proud to announce The Rugby Bowl 2014: Spikes & Spokes.  All ticketing, event and sponsorship information can be found at www.therugbybowl.com.

With the defending college champions from Brigham Young University traveling to play the nationally-ranked Sun Devils from Arizona State University it is an event already offering great integrity.

Motorcycle displays.  Food trucks.  An on-site after-party with music from the Keltic Cowboys.

What a way to enjoy a spring afternoon.  What a way to entertain clients and friends.  What a way to enjoy a landmark event showcasing one of the world’s most popular sports.  What a way to help Arizona create another signature event to enjoy.

We all hope ASU will soon be playing in The Rose Bowl.  Well, you KNOW they will be playing in The Rugby Bowl come April.  Join us.

WHO

Following just its third year The Scottsdale Ferrari-Maserati Polo Championships: Horses & Horsepower is now the most attended polo event in the United States.  The event has and will continue to feature the best professional polo players and teams in the world.  In 2012 featured teams hailed from Harvard University, Work To Ride (as featured on 60 Minutes and ESPN), The Hamptons and Bel Air.  Two of the finest polo players in the United States, Nic Roldan and Tommy Biddle, Jr. were featured players.

In 2013 the Clogau Wales Polo Team crossed the pond and defeated the U.S. Military Team to win the Molina Cup.

The most decorated college polo program, the University of Virginia, defeated the country’s high school champions from Work To Ride.  And the best female polo player in the United States led an all female contingent to a draw versus the men from the Arizona Polo Club.

On June 22nd, the same ownership and production team also launched “The Hottest Race on Earth.”  Organized in conjunction with the co-founder of Pat’s Run, a race that honors former Navy Seal and NFL star Pat Tillman each year, the “Hottest Race’s” inaugural field was called the best racing field in Arizona in two decades and was won by a two-time Ethiopian Olympian.

The polo event referenced above is sponsored by the City of Scottsdale and a complete list of the impressive backers and sponsors can be found at each website.  And just recently Fox Sports Arizona’s broadcast special was nominated for an Emmy Award.  It can be found at www.thepoloparty.com.

WHAT

Backers intend to replicate the excitement and attendance of its internationally recognized polo event with an acclaimed rugby event each spring in Scottsdale.  But rather than feature cars as The Polo Party does, The Rugby Bowl will feature motorcycles and food trucks.

This year’s event will feature a single, high-profile match.  Future years will feature 4 teams with two matches taking place on Saturday and the championship match on Sunday.

As with The Polo Party, television exposure is being pursued.

And as with The Polo Party which has seen attendance grow from some 2,300 in 2011 to 12,442 in 2013, similar growth is forecast for The Rugby Bowl, since one of the world’s most popular sports currently does not have a signature event in Arizona.

A current layout for The Rugby Bowl can be found at www.therugbybowl.com.

WHERE

The match will take place on the polo field at WestWorld of Scottsdale, an accessible and spectacular location in North Scottsdale.  It is also the home of the world-famous Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction and Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.  It lies in the heart of Scottsdale’s celebrated golf courses, spring training facilities and is just 2 minutes from the home of the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament, the most attended on the PGA Tour.  The field is a natural grass surface.

WHEN

Saturday, April 12th is an ideal time to visit Scottsdale’s great weather, especially on the heels of Major League Baseball’s 15-team spring training season which takes place in March.

WHY

Both ASU and BYU have large constituencies in the area and showcasing the #1 rugby team in the country is ideal for marketing efforts.

HOW

The same backers and organizers of the aforementioned events will ensure the same excitement, crowds and entertaining experience.

Ticketing and tents range from the affordable to the exclusive.  Tents, tailgating, a beer garden and bleachers will all be utilized to create a unique atmosphere for attendees.

Tickets are now on sale at www.therugbybowl.com.

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Numerous sponsors of the Scottsdale Ferrari-Maserati Polo Championships have already committed to the affluent and energetic demographics of The Rugby Bowl.  We hope you will be a part of it all, and help create a special new event for the Valley.

We welcome your inquiries regarding sponsorships and ticketing.

See you April 12th!

Sincerely,

The Rugby Bowl 2014:  Spikes & Spokes
