Two recall petitions are being circulated in Cave Creek for six Town Council members.
If the backers of the recalls are successful, Mayor Vincent Francia would be the only official still in office from last year’s elections.
Cave Creek Caring Citizens, chaired by resident Susan Clancy and with Hani Saba acting as treasurer, wants to oust new council members Mike Durkin, Reg Monachino, Charles Spitzer and Vice Mayor Adam Trenk.
A recall petition also has been filed for the removal of multi-term Councilmen Ernie Bunch and Thomas McGuire. Resident Kerry Smith has formed the political committee Citizens Concerned for Cave Creek, with Treasurer Pauline Anne Smith.
The committees are not related and effectively oppose each other, but they are recalling the six councilmen for the same reasons, according to the paperwork they filed: fiscal irresponsibility, misrepresenting the public in the last election and lack of transparency.
