The Pinal County Democratic Committee chairman has announced his campaign for Maricopa City Council.

It’s Henry Wade’s first time running for City Council, but he is no newcomer to Pinal County politics.

“I believe that I have the leadership skills to help continue on the positive path the city is on,” Wade told the Maricopa Monitor.

Wade joins former Maricopa Police Chief Patrick Melvin and small business owner Vincent Manfredi in the race for three open council seats, currently held by council members Julia Gusse, Edward Farrell and Peg Chapados. None of the current council members has announced whether they will run in August, though Chapados is believed to be seeking her first elected term this fall. She was appointed by the council last year to complete the term of resigned Councilman Alan Marchione.

Candidates must file their packets, complete with 210 valid signatures, between April 28 and May 28.
