The company behind some of the country’s highest ranked public charter schools is making its first move into private schools — and it’s starting with San Jose, Calif., and Brooklyn, New York.

BASIS Independent Silicon Valley is slated to open next year in San Jose. The private school is managed by Scottsdale-based BASIS.ed, the for-profit management and development firm that runs the 12-school BASIS charter schools operation in Arizona, Texas and Washington.
