Zoning law revision affects heights at Scottsdale Airpark

A revised zoning district could have a dramatic impact on Scottsdale Airport by possibly leading to greater building heights and density in the surrounding Airpark area.

Last month, the city council approved a text amendment to the city’s zoning ordinance regarding the planned commerce park zoning district. The amendment will go into effect Thursday, Jan. 9.

Don Hadder, principal planner, told the council the text amendment is “essentially a total rewrite of the district,” but it maintains the “intent of the district” and “achieves the goals” of the Greater Airpark Character Area Plan.
