A number of horse owners and outdoor enthusiasts who live in Cave Creek are opposed to a possible settlement agreement regarding an easement connecting the west and east sides of town.
The roadway, south of the Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area in the northern part of town, has been the subject of a lawsuit initiated by Cave Creek resident Gerald Freeman, who alleges the town illegally trespassed on his private roadway to develop a bridle path, and that many others have illegally used it a number of times since 2004.
The roadway leads to a nearly 1,000-acre property owned by Minnesota-based Cahava Springs Corp., which is also named in the suit.
