Three assistants to the Pinal County Board of Supervisors will receive a large increase in pay, thanks to their bosses.
The move was harshly criticized by two supervisors, citizens and other Pinal County employees.
At the board’s Wednesday meeting, Chairman Anthony Smith of Maricopa, Vice Chairman Todd House of Apache Junction and Supervisor Cheryl Chase of San Tan Valley voted to give their assistants pay raises of more than $10,000. Assistants for Chase and House will receive a 28 percent jump in pay from $44,699 to $57,241.
Supervisors Steve Miller of Casa Grande and Pete Rios of Dudleyville vehemently opposed the move and voted against the pay increases.
