No paper. No problem.
Following a trend set by other municipalities, Maricopa officials are looking to install an online portal for builders to electronically submit building plans to the city for review as a way to create a more efficient, cost-saving process.
“We’re not behind the times,” said Robert Goodhue, director of the city’s Development Services Department. “We’re looking at things at the same time other municipalities are.”
Phoenix rolled out its electronic plan review system in November following a pilot phase. Goodyear, Scottsdale and Gilbert also have electronic systems in place.
The electronic system would accommodate building plans both small and large – from new houses to small improvement projects.
