Scottsdale moved a step closer to resolving a roughly $350,000 payment to the federal government that resulted from a failed affordable-housing effort.
To do that, the city first must acquire a property, at 7234 E. Belleview St. in south Scottsdale. In 2007, Community Services of Arizona received $351,588 in federal funds from the city to develop affordable housing on the site. The project never materialized.
The property still is owned by Community Services of Arizona, but the city is foreclosing on the property, said Bill Murphy, the city’s executive director of community services.
