The Sun Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization has a new executive director.
Sharon Mitchell is expected to start work later this month at the helm of the MPO, according to Casa Grande Mayor Bob Jackson, who serves as chairman of the Sun Corridor board of directors.
“We made an offer and she accepted,” Jackson told the Casa Grande City Council on Monday. “We’re happy to have her come aboard.”
Mitchell is a former transportation planner for the Western Arizona Council of Governments and the SouthEastern Arizona Governments Organization.
She has 15 years experience working in transportation planning, according to Jackson.
“The board was very impressed with her,” he said.
While Mitchell has never worked as an executive director, the Sun Corridor MPO is designed primarily as a transportation entity, Jackson said.
