It has been more than a year in the making but the design of Tempe Town Lake’s $40.8 million steel dam is nearing completion.
Last week, in anticipation of finishing the design for the lake’s innovative hydraulically-operated steel dam, City Council approved a $1.8 million contract for post-design services. Gannett Fleming is the contractor, working with city engineers to complete the steel-dam design.
Assistant City Manager Jeff Kulaga, who has worked with city engineers overseeing the dam project, told The Arizona Republic that post-design services would include guidance during construction while contractor PCL Construction is building the dam.
