Vistancia infrastructure improvements to help lure businesses, protect Peoria

Peoria wants to make a swath of undeveloped land in Vistancia “shovel-ready” to attract a high-end employer to a planned commercial development.

The Peoria City Council on Feb. 4 unanimously approved an amendment to the city’s existing development agreement with Vistancia Land Holdings LLC that clarifies standards for preparing the area for development.

The agreement outlines the timeline for the city and Vistancia developers to complete infrastructure improvements needed to attract companies, identifies the types of companies the city hopes to attract, lays out the process for how Vistancia will donate 50 acres for economic development and establishes protections for the city in case plans fall through.
