13 potential candidates show interest in 4 seats open on Gilbert Council

The list of potential candidates for this year’s Gilbert Town Council election has grown to 13 with less than two months remaining before hopefuls can submit the 1,000 signatures needed to earn a spot on the ballot.

With four seats up for grabs in an August primary and November runoff election, potential candidates are three incumbents and 10 challengers, though it remains unclear how many will turn in candidate paperwork.

Eddie Cook, Jordan Ray and Victor Petersen, all first-time council members elected in spring 2011, have each organized campaign committees in search of a second term at Town Hall. Councilman Ben Cooper, who served a one-year appointment in 2010 and then won an election in 2011, has not announced whether he’ll run again this fall.
