ADEQ receives overwhelming support for emissions control plan

An emissions control plan proposed by Arizona Department of Environmental Quality for reducing regional haze is being hailed as a win-win solution for meeting pollution standards set by the federal Environmental Protection Agency.Five representatives from the ADEQ were in Benson Wednesday for a public hearing where the department presented information regarding its proposed state implementation plan, or SIP, along with subsequent permit revisions that will reduce emissions produced at Apache Generating Station, a coal-fired power plant located in Cochise, east of Benson.
