From its debts to its streets, wastewater facility, libraries and other assets, the city of Casa Grande is worth about $307 million.
“That’s the value of everything the city owns,” said Casa Grande Finance Director Doug Sandstrom. “We assess everything and put a value on it.”
With a value of about $135 million, the city’s streets and roads top the list of most valuable municipal properties.
That number jumps to $195 million when equipment, traffic signals and other street-related property are included in the tally.
The city’s worth, or net position, which takes into account the municipality’s capital assets, investments and debts, was one of several statistics highlighted Monday during a presentation of the city’s 2013 annual financial report at the City Council meeting.
The report shows the city’s financial position is good, Sandstrom told the council.
“It’s showing slight signs of improvement along with the economy,” he said. “We’re staying steady, we’re holding the course. You’re not seeing any great leaps and bounds in one area.”
