Casa Grande Dispatch
The Casa Grande Board of Adjustment on Tuesday will consider a temporary use permit to allow PhoenixMart developers to install a pair of entry monument signs and some landscaping along Florence Boulevard.
While the installation is meant to serve as a landmark for investors and the public to identify the PhoenixMart location, the monument signs will be the first piece of the project to be built. They could eventually become part of the development’s perma- nent entryway.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall, 510 E. Florence Blvd. It is open to the public.
If approved, the permit would allow the developer to install two signs and leave them in place for at least one year. Although developers can apply for an extension after one year, eventually, to allow the signs to remain in place permanently, the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission would need to approve the development’s comprehensive sign plan.
If the monument signs are approved by the Plan-ning and Zoning Commission, they could be left in place as entryway markers for the development. If the commission did not approve the plan, the signs would be removed or modified to comply with requirements, according to staff reports.
The signs would be placed on seven acres near what will eventually be the main entrance into the development, according to staff reports.
