A proposed residential project dating 15 years will be considered next month by the Fountain Hills Town Council, bringing with it opposition mostly from Scottsdale residents.

At its April 17 meeting, the council tentatively is set to consider MCO Properties’ requests for Adero Canyon, a 431-acre residential project it wants to build at the end of Eagle Ridge Drive. The project originally was the Eagle Ridge North subdivision.

On Feb. 13, the Planning and Zoning Commission, with 3-3 votes, failed to recommend council approval of the preliminary master plat, two minor General Plan amendments and rezoning for the project. The proposal would include a zoning change from single-family homes to a mixture of housing types to allow more units on about 80 acres.
