One of the nice things in my subdivision each spring is the blooming of wildflowers
They’re beautiful and enhance the neighborhood.
As the wildflowers bloomed this week, I’m reminded I and other residents received notices from our home owners association we’d be fined if we didn’t remove the “weeds” from our front yards. Yes, the horticulturally-challenged HOA board classified wildflowers as weeds.
We sent the board a semester’s worth of information on weeds and wildflowers, and the issue was quickly quieted.
Sometimes HOAs have too much time on their hands. No surprise the Arizona Legislature deals each session with a couple dozen bills regarding the authority of HOAs.
Surprisingly, another weed-wildflower dunning letter has been sent. I’ll choose to ignore it as the short-lived wildflowers prepare to sleep until next year.
