Election season has come early to Paradise Valley, with some candidates picking up election packets ahead of time, poised to gather enough signatures to get their names on August’s ballot.
This week, incumbents Paul Dembow and David Sherf picked up their packets as well as Larry Fink, who ran in 2010. Fink is a Paradise Valley police volunteer and served on the Mayor’s Task Force on Public Safety last year.
Town Clerk Duncan Miller said the official start of the election cycle is not until April 28, but election packets are ready if candidates want to pick them up early.
A minimum of 153 signatures must be filed by 5 p.m. May 28.
The primary election is Aug. 26. If a runoff is necessary, it will be held on Nov. 4.
