Growth will continue to be a huge driver of Metro Phoenix’s economy. Home prices have rebounded more than 70 percent since the crash, and the commercial-real-estate market is showing signs of recovering.
So what’s the outlook for the Valley’s future?
Wellington Reiter, known as Duke, is chairman of the Urban Land Institute Arizona. Through that role and his leadership positions with Arizona State University, he helped plan and drive downtown Phoenix’s evolution during the past decade. Recently, he has been leading efforts toward improving the region’s infrastructure to attract big employers and ensure the region’s future growth.
An architect and urban planner, he came to Arizona in 2003 after being recruited by ASU President Michael Crow to be dean of the College of Design. A recent conversation with Reiter:
