Queen Creek election preview: Deadlines approach for town, counties, state

Election deadlines are approaching for upcoming races in Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Pinal and Maricopa counties and the state government.

The deadline to register to vote in the 2014 primary elections is July 28 across local, county and state governments. The primary election is Aug. 26 and the general election is Nov. 4. Voter registration for the general election closes Oct. 6.

Candidate packets for the open positions of Queen Creek mayor and three town council seats must be turned in between April 28 and May 28, according to the town website.

This year will be the first time Queen Creek local elections are held in the fall. A legislative mandate required the town move its elections from the spring to the fall to coincide with county and state elections, according to the town website.
