FLORENCE — Down in a small canyon, the features of a typical rural area are all present. Farmers ride their tractors across vast land. Alfalfa is spotted everywhere, with plants bustling in the wind. Cattle graze, seemingly without a care in the world. In other words, there is quiet and there is peace.
But in only a week’s time, the area will be anything but serene when tens of thousands of visitors flood the land and some of country’s most famous entertainers get a little rowdy and fill the air with loud music. From April 10-13, these fields will be transformed into what would be one of Pinal County’s most populous cities, known as Country Thunder.
Thousands of campers actually will start settling in next Wednesday, making this a five-day event where country music fans are treated to dozens of acts, including superstars like Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean and The Band Perry. From the time the first note is played on stage at 2:30 p.m. that Thursday till everything starts to come down on Sunday, patrons are treated not just to a concert but to a whole new lifestyle that seemingly popped up out of nowhere.
