From Chris Potter’s view perched atop his horse, Rocky, it’s easy to see how much work he has to do keeping trash in its place.
As cars whiz by at breakneck speeds on Carefree Highway, Potter, claw in gloved hand, jumps off Rocky to snap up litter just out of reach.
Stretching deep, Potter plucks Styrofoam cups, fast-food wrappers and beer bottles from barrel cactus clusters and ocotillos.
Walking back to Rocky, he gets a friendly honk from a pickup truck zooming by, as if to say, “Give a hoot, don’t pollute.”
Potter looks on for a moment and then places broken glass into the trash bag.
