Emerald Point gets rezoning nod for PAD

Glendale City Council voted unanimously to rezone the property at North 99th Avenue from A-1 (agricultural) to a planned area development for the purpose of building Emerald Point.

The change will allow the development that includes employment, office, commercial, hotel and residential land uses. The rezoning request allows for appropriate stipulations for any future development.

The applicant, Emerald LLLP requested more time when this issue was to be voted on at the March 25 council meeting, but asked for a continuance.

“The land is about a half-a-mile long along the 101 Loop from Glendale to Maryland Avenue,” Glendale Planning Director Jon Froke said. “This is a minor amendment from an agricultural business park to commerce park.”
