Gilbert Councilman Cooper won’t seek re-election

Gilbert Town Councilman Ben Cooper has announced he will not seek re-election this fall, opening up at least one spot at Town Hall for a new council member.

Cooper, a four-year veteran at Town Hall who is known as a more-moderate voice among a conservative group, cited family and business commitments in announcing his decision not to run.

“After much consideration, I’ve decided that I will not be running for Town Council this fall,” Cooper tweeted on April 21.
