Glendale’s Horatio Skeete is now Safford city manager

Horatio Skeete worked for Glendale for about nine years and brokered some of the city’s major agreements including those for University of Phoenix Stadium and Westgate Entertainment District.

Glendale City Manager Brenda Fischer fired Skeete after an external audit reported that he and several others mishandled millions of dollars by shifting money among several city accounts.

Safford Mayor Chris Gibbs said questions surrounding the external audit jeopardized the legitimacy of the report, and he didn’t think Skeete should have been the focal point
