The historic C.P. Stephens DeSoto Six Motorcars building in downtown Phoenix will soon have a restaurant and bar; six stalls for food, flowers, and other vendors, as well as a meat shop.
It is being converted into the DeSoto Central Marketplace, which project partner Shawn Connelly says developers are modeling after the Ferry Building in San Francisco.
The C.P. Stephens DeSoto Six Motorcars building sits on the corner of Roosevelt Street and Central Avenue. It was named after the DeSoto – a Chrysler brand of cars, and was built in 1928 as a car dealership and show room. The building continued to be automotive-related until the 1960s, according to the National Park Service.
