It’s official: Maricopa is the Valley of the Sun’s best suburb.
Radio station Mix 96.9 FM’s Battle of the Burbs online contest ended this morning and once the dust settled, underdog Maricopa emerged as the clear winner over nearby Chandler. In fact, it was more of a beatdown than a contest: As of late Monday night, an overwhelming 82 percent of voters had selected Maricopa, while only 18 percent picked Chandler.
A trophy ceremony and celebration will take place at the Copper Sky Recreation Complex on April 14 at 8 a.m. Justin Scheman, producer of MIX 96.9’s “The Mathew Blades Show,” will be on hand to present Mayor Christian Price with the two-foot tall trophy emblazoned with the city’s triumph.
