The Mesa City Council is wasting no time filling the hole left when Alex Finter became mayor this week.
The council decided unanimously during its April 17 study session to appoint a representative from District 2, which covers south-central Mesa. Under the city charter, the council could have left the spot vacant until Finter resumes his normal council duties.
The process will be much quicker than was the case in filling other recent vacancies.
