The flames were roaring toward a stash of 55-gallon drums filled with toxic chemicals.
If those things blew, poison would pour into the sky over Mesa, forcing hundreds or thousands of people from their homes on a blistering summer night.
Alex Finter wasn’t going to let them blow.
The Mesa fire captain had led about 20 firefighters into the blazing industrial building at Dobson and Broadway roads.
