Residents and developers can get permits quicker with two new pilot programs in Peoria.

Peoria launched its Self-Certification and Over-The-Counter Plan Review programs at a time when the city is seeing an increase in permits, particularly residential. City officials expect the programs to make the permitting process more efficient, both for staff trying to keep up with growing demand and for those trying to obtain permits.

“At the time we first started considering (launching the programs), we weren’t as busy as we are now, so I think we’re quite thankful that we have these other options that we’re moving forward with,” Deputy Director of Development Rebecca Zook said. “We’re always looking to streamline.”
