Sports a $1B+ business in the Valley; worth it?

sports_moneyPhoenix-area governments and their taxpayers have spent more than $1 billion building sports stadiums and subsidizing big events and professional teams the past two decades, reports the Phoenix Business Journal

Next up, the 2015 Super Bowl in Glendale, where that city will spend up to $3 million on security for the big game at University of Phoenix Stadium, says Mayor Jerry Weiers.

Is all this money spent on sports worth it?
