State land auction makes possible $1B, biomedical corridor

It looks like just another Phoenix street project. Crews are at work on a half-mile stretch of 64th Street from Loop 101 to Mayo Boulevard through undeveloped Sonoran Desert. This project, however, is the first step in a 225-acre, $1B biomedical technology research and development project that will make the Arizona Biomedical Corridor (ABC) a reality.

While graders smooth the roadbed, the Arizona State Land Department is crunching numbers to set a value on a third of the 600-acre Arizona Biomedical Corridor. Global design, construction and development giant KUD International wants to buy that land and bring to the Sonoran Desert a project similar to one it built in the Israeli desert.
