Just one year after reopening as Aloft Tucson University, the hotel at Speedway and Campbell was purchased by an investment group.
The hotel was called Plaza International when it opened at Speedway and Campbell Avenue in 1971 at the former A.J. Bayless market location. It became the Four Points Sheraton Tucson University in 2001 and was rebranded Aloft Tucson University in 2013.
Starwood Hotels announced Tuesday it has sold Aloft Tucson University for $19 million, and that the midtown hotel will keep the Aloft brand.
The buyer was Lightstone Value Plus Real Estate Investment Trust II.
